The global football governing body FIFA, alongside the Uganda football governing body FUFA continue to follow through with the artificial turf installation project at our Lugogo based Phillip Omondi stadium.

Today, 16 February 2016, FIFA’s Artificial turf expert who is also a consultant in Natural grass and artificial Turf Installation Dr. Stephen Baker escorted by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson and FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein have visited the construction site for a site inspection and to assess progress before the artificial grass can finally be laid on the ground.

Among the things inspected was the drainage system, leveling of the ground and the quality of the turf that will be laid.

Speaking to journalists at the stadium, the FUFA spokesperson stressed the fact that turf can be used for as many years as 30 with the capability of hosting 6 matches a day.

“Stephen will now give us a report of findings and it is that report that will give a green light to lay the turf.” The FUFA spokesperson added.

This project which started last year in October was expected to be completed in November the same year but was hindered by the periodic rains during that time.

This will be the second artificial turf field in the county after FUFA’s Njeru Technical Center and the first in the capital city Kampala.
