Serunkuuma is the 2016/2017 AUPL MVP, drives away in a Subaru

Striker Geoffrey Serunkuuma was widely expected to win the 2016/2017 Azam Uganda Premier League Footballer of the Year award, and the script did not change.

The KCCA Football Club Philip Omondi Footballer of the Year was on Wednesday night crowned the best player.

Walking away with Shs2m and a brand new Subaru Forestor in a colourful function held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

I can’t forget my fellow players, the coaches led by coach Mike (Mutebi) Kaddu Badru, Jackson Magera, Robert Kabuye, Richard Malinga, our doctors, they really played a big role last season.

Serunkuuma was also voted by the fans who follow the league as their best player of the 2016/2017 season on top of walking away with the top scorer’s accolade.

Serunkuuma alongside Habib Kavuma, Timothy Away, Muzamir Mutyaba and Sadam Juma were also named on the best XI of the 2016/2017 season.

Manager Mike Mutebi scooped the best coach of the year award for the second straight year while midfield sensation Allan Okello was awarded the young player of the year award.

Former CEO David Tamale was also for the second successive season voted as the best in the league.
