KCCA FC and URA FC shared spoils in a closely contested Azam Uganda Premier League tie played at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday evening.
The game that ended 2-2 earned the league holders bragging rights as they ascended back to the summit of the 16 team log with 47 points from 22 games.
It was the tax collectors though who drew first blood through a Feni Ali strike 15 minutes after the start.
This acted as a wakeup call for the 11 time league winners who played without regulars Timothy Awany at the back and Brian Majwega in midfield were missing through injury and illness respectively.
Teenage sensation Allan Okello who gave URA FC players a run for their money the entire afternoon then came close in the 24th minute with a clever attempt that custodian Nafian Alonzi saved.
KCCA FC gaffer Mike Mutebi then called the shots when he withdrew Paul Mucureezi on 32 minutes for Isaac Muleme.
It took the left back five minutes to score a beautiful volley for level matters before halftime, it was Muleme’s first goal in KCCA FC colours.
In the second half, Tom Masiko was withdrawn for Robert Sentongo in a move to have more numbers upfront but it was URA FC who capitalized quickly through a Diego Hamis Kizza’s strike.
KCCA FC pressed hard and in the 66th minute referee Alex Muhabi pointed to the spot after Julius Ntambi held the ball in the forbidden area.
Geoffrey Serunkuuma made no mistake and slotted home from 12 yards to take his tally to 16 in the league and 22 in the season.
The visitors then withdrew scorer Ali Feni for Richard Wandyaka and Shafic Kagimu for Elukanah Nkugwa in search for a winner but it was all in vain.
