KCCA FC continued with their 100 percent record at home in the 2016/2017 Azam Uganda Premier League with a commanding 3-1 win over SC Villa on Tuesday.

In a game attended by a capacity crowd, KCCA FC took the lead on 11 minutes after midfielder Paul Mucureezi controlled the ball superbly in the box and fired a thunderous shot past Villa custodian Yasin Mugabi.

Mike Mutebi’s side controlled the possession and finished the first half on top of events. In the second half, Habib Kavuma handled in the box forcing referee Dennis Batte to award the visitors a penalty which Vitalis Tabu converted on 60 minutes.

KCCA FC regained confidence and continued to attack Villa’s backline, on-form forward Derrick Nsibambi controlled the ball at the edge of the box and passed it to right winger Ronald Musana who marvelously crossed back to him.

Like a true predator, Nsibambi rose up to head KCCA’s second on 65 minutes – his third consecutive goal for the club this season.

Mutebi made accurate substitutions, throwing on Isaac Muleme for Mucureezi, Robert Ssentongo for Sserunkuuma and Brian Majwega for Derrick Nsibambi which made it difficult for Villa to comeback in the match.

The icing came in the 90 minute when left-back Joseph Ochaya headed in a ferocious header from a Muzamir Mutyaba corner to make it a comfortable 3-1 win for KCCA.

KCCA is now seven points ahead second placed Villa with three games left to the end of the first round of the Uganda Premier League.

“It was a match we showed our ability to retain the title. We played entertaining football and dominated play,” said an excited Mutebi. Villa coach Shafiq Bisaso blamed the loss on the artificial turf his team is not used to.

KCCA FC now have 28 points from 12 games and are yet to drop any points at the Philip Omondi Stadium.
