KCCA FC Picks Up Point at Home – UPL

Allan Kyambadde surges forward against Kirinya Jinja SS at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA FC shared spoils with Kirinya Jinja SS FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game held at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo.

From the start, the home side exhibited a more positive display compared to the opposition with teenager Allan Okello coming close to finding the back of the net twice in a space of five opening minutes.

Okello beat onrushing defenders Ismail Kawawulo and Isaac Isinde before releasing a belter which whistled off the upright.

Muwadda Mawejje who was handed his first league start for KCCA FC showed his pace and skill on the ball, beating the opposition with crosses and delivering pin point crosses that were unluckily slotted in.

On 20 minutes, midfielder Sadam Juma made a mazy run towards the opposition defense but was fouled outside the box, Kizza’s eventual delivery was thunderously saved by Didi Mohamad.

With 10 minutes to the end of the opening stanza, Lawrence Bukenya exchanged with skipper Awany whose effort from 20 yards went out wide when the goal keeper looked to have been beaten by change in direction of a miscalculated deflected ball.

After recess, Allan Kyambadde was introduced in place of Sadam Juma and later Mustafa Kizza made way for youngster Eric Ssenjobe.

On 55 minutes, Awany almost broke the deadlock but his header went an inch over the cross bar. Five minutes later, Muwadda missed in similar fashion this time with the goal keeper beaten.

A fresh Kyamabadde who chased the opposition the entire evening in search for possession won the ball in midfield with a defender and keeper to beat and sent in a screamer from 18 yards but his effort hit the side net leaving the home fans in disbelief.

Eleven minutes from fulltime, Steven Serwadda was introduced for Muwadda. The stout and exciting teenager added more pace and positivity to the game but the call could have come a little late.
