Goals by Derrick Nsibambi and Paul Mucureezi were enough as Uganda Cranes defeated South Sudan 5-1 in the Total African Nations of Championship first round return leg qualifier at the StarTimes Stadium on Saturday Afternoon.
Striker Derrick Nsibambi opened the flood gates after 35 minutes with a brilliant header off Nicholas Wadada’s perfect cross.
Nsibambi got injured in the process and was replaced by teammate Paul Mucureezi who scored off a Moses Waiswa through ball to double Uganda’s lead after 41 minutes.
Immediately after recess, Mucureezi wasn’t going to be stopped, he scored his second in the 46th before completing his hat trick after 50 minutes.
And six minutes later, Mucureezi who was earning his second cap in a space of seven days tapped in Uganda’s fifth and his fourth of the evening.
Uganda will play Rwanda in the final qualifying round next month with an aim of qualifying for the fourth straight CHAN Finals.
