It was a touching moment for KCCA FC central defender Timothy Awany on Sunday at Namboole when the Uganda Cranes played a closed door friendly game with his beloved club.
Awany featured in the Cranes first team alongside club mate Benjamin Ochan and was tasked to close out KCCA strikers – something he had never thought of in his life.
“I felt like putting on the coveted KCCA FC jersey however much I played against them. My blood veins are filled with the yellow of KCCA,” Awany, who joined us in January 2015 from Kibuli SS, revealed.
He partnered Ethiopia based Isaac Isinde in the first half to stop our team that had a few key stars. Awany believes if he plays well against Kenya on Tuesday, a place in the team to play Comoros on Sunday may be within reach.
