Serunkuuma to captain Uganda Cranes, 7 other KCCA FC players summoned

 

KCCA FC striker Geoffrey Serunkuuma (R) has been named captain of the CHAN team ahead of the back to back qualifiers against South Sudan, on the left is Paul Mucureezi who has also been summoned.

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) sensational striker, Geoffrey Serunkuuma has been named the Uganda Cranes captain ahead of the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifiers.

Cranes head coach, Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic has (on Monday 10th July, 2017) named Serunkuuma the team skipper.

The KCCA FC Most Valuable Player for the 2016/17 season has enjoyed a rich form scoring a total of 32 goals both for club and country.

He scored the lone goal as Uganda Cranes won 1-0 away to Cape Verde last month in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The soft spoken finisher was instrumental as KCCA FC went ahead to clinch the unprecedented domestic double and an impressive run on the continent.

Serunkuuma scoring over 21 League goals and five goals in the FUFA Uganda Cup, four in the 2017 Total CAF Champions League and one in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

Serunkuuma is joined by several other KCCA FC players who have also made the grade earning a call to the national team.

A total of eight players from Kampala Capital Capital City Authority Football Club have been summoned and will join the team on Monday in training at Mandela National stadium.

These include; Timothy Dennis Awany, Isaac Muleme, Paul Musamali, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Brian Majwega, Derrick Nsibambi, Geoffrey Serunkuuma, Paul Mucureezi

Uganda takes on South Sudan this Friday at Juba stadium in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers before a return leg at Star times stadium a week later.
