Three minutes later, Katenga dribbled past Bright Stars’ Kato Samuel and teed up Waiswa whose first time shot flew wide again.

Just when the visitors were growing into the game, KCCA FC had other plans. Katenga beat his marker, Kitamwe Innocent and crossed the ball towards the far post, which was met by an onrushing Usama Arafati to break the deadlock and give KCCA FC the lead in the 37th minute.

After recess, Saidi Mayanja replaced injured Peter Magambo.

Two minutes to the hour mark, Emmanuel Loki and Joel Sserunjogi replace Gui Cungulo and Ettiene Katenga.

In the 70th minute, Bright Stars’ Samuel Kato fouled Loki. Kizza stepped up to take the resultant free kick but his effort was thwarted away by Bright Stars’ custodian Were.

Substitute Joel had an opportunity to open his goal account for KCCA FC but his first-time pile driver from distance flew over the frame of the goal in the 77th minute.
