Poloto’s Strike Gets KCCA FC To Within Touching Distance Of League Summit

Julius Poloto thumping header in the 65th minute was all Champions KCCA FC needed to get within touching distance of the league summit.
KCCA FC looked the better team from the onset with constant attacks and plenty of asked questions asked by the visitors’ defense but it was just matter of time for the Champions to ace the tie.
Derrick Nsibambi beat two of his markers and shot straight to the visitors’ custodian sending the entire stadium in awe with his ball control and finesse on 10 minutes.
Gaffer Mike Mutebi then made an early change introducing Muzamiru Mutyaba to the tie in place of Lawrence Bukenya. The midfielder who was returning from a six weeks layoff immediately took matters in his hands, controlling the tempo of the game and increasing supply to the forward.


Allan Okello combined well with Kirabira Isaac and Mutyaba, the former releasing a defense splitting pass that was Nsibambi fired inches out wide.
Debutant Eric Ssenjobe who had a fine performance burst into place and sent in a goal bound screamer that was blocked by Davis Ssali 10 minutes to the end of the opening stanza.
Allan Okello produced another moment of magic with a brilliant freekick that rattled the crossbar and wide, four minutes to the end of the opening stanza.

At the start of the second stanza, KCCA FC made a double substitution introducing Kizza Musatafa and Shaban Muhammad for Eric Ssenjobe and Kaddu Patrick respectively.
Shaban combined well with Nsibambi for the latter to release Mutyaba whose low shot was pushed out for corner kick, Kizza Musatafa delivered the set piece that was nodded inches wide by captain Timothy Awany on 60 minutes
Five minutes later KCCA FC got another corner kick, this time Kizza delivering a well cultured cross with his magic left foot that met an unmarked Julius Poloto on the far post whose thumping header gave the Champions the maiden goal in the fixture.
Three minutes later Shaban nearly made it two but the forward slipped as he stretched to take the shot with the goal mouth at his mercy.
Charles Lukwago was called into action to make a fine save to deny Simon Okwi from point blank range with three minutes to play. The custodian ensuring, he kept his 9th clean sheet in 13 league games this season.
1-0 the final score, Champions KCCA FC getting three points in the bag and recording 10th win in the league this season and also moving a point less off the league summit.
The Champions get back to action on Wednesday 7th March 2018 against St George in the CAF Champions League.
