KCCA FC defenders Gavin Kizito Mugweri and Herbert Achayi have been summoned to the Uganda Cranes squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers this October.
The duo will represent the nation in two crucial Group G clashes: first against Botswana in Francistown on October 9, followed by a demanding away tie against continental giants Algeria on October 14. These fixtures mark a decisive stage in Uganda’s campaign to reach the World Cup finals in North America.
Having both been part of the Uganda Cranes squad for the recent African Nations Championship (CHAN), Kizito, a versatile defender capable of operating at right-back or centre-half, brings valuable experience and leadership, having previously captained the Uganda U17 and U20 national side.

Achayi, known for his hard work, and solid defensive prowess, has steadily worked his way into the senior National team set up.
KCCA FC Co Head Coach Jackson Magera shared the club’s pride,
We extend our congratulations to Gavin and Herbert on this well deserved national team selection. Their call-up is a recognition of their hard work. We wish them and the entire Uganda Cranes contingent the very best as they pursue the dream of World Cup qualification.
