Thirteen-time Ugandan league champions KCCA FC are set to take center stage this Christmas Eve as they face Kitara FC in a high-profile friendly match to mark the official commissioning of the Hoima City Stadium.

The state-of-the-art facility, a flagship project for Uganda’s hosting of AFCON 2027, will be officially opened to the public for the first time by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The 20,000-seater stadium is expected to be at full capacity as the Bunyoro sub-region celebrates a landmark achievement in sports infrastructure.

For co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo, the return to Hoima, where he previously enjoyed a successful stint with Kitara FC, is filled with emotion and significance. Speaking ahead of the match, Ssenyondo emphasized the magnitude of the event.

It is a massive honor for KCCA FC to be invited to play in such a historic match. The commissioning of Hoima City Stadium is a milestone for Ugandan football and the entire Bunyoro region. Beyond the celebration, this is a competitive test against a very good Kitara side. We want to put on a show that matches the quality of this world class facility and give the fans a performance they will remember on this Christmas Eve.
