The slogan “For A Cleaner City” is the uniting vision of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), serving as a primary umbrella for several critical urban transformation initiatives.

The campaign is also a call to action for all stakeholders, residents, businesses, and public institutions to actively participate in elevating Kampala’s status and keeping the city clean.

The campaign centers on these pillars.

  1. Urban Order and Cleanliness: Promoting responsible waste management, discouraging littering, and encouraging personal hygiene to ensure Kampala is a safe, clean, and healthy environment. The campaign emphasizes waste management by adherence to the 4Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It further emphasizes the importance of sorting waste into nondegradable and biodegradable categories.
  2. Infrastructure and Sustainability: Supporting KCCA’s mission to develop infrastructure, including roads, drainage, and utilities, while protecting the environment to ensure long term, sustainable growth.
  3. Civic Pride and Responsibility: Promoting a mindset of engagement where citizens “Think, Act, Work, and Talk” (TAWT) to build a smart, clean, and orderly city.

KCCA FC’s identity is fundamentally linked to Kampala. The football club was founded in 1963 by the late Samuel Wamala, who served as the head of the Council’s Refuse Works section in the City Engineering Department. Promoting the city’s cleanliness emphasizes KCCA’s status as “More Than Just A Club” and commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), with the KCCA FC players being visible civic ambassadors.

Speaking to the official club website following the launch of the warm up kit with the “For A Cleaner City” campaign, KCCA FC Chief Executive Officer Anisha Shahir Muhoozi emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration.

For KCCA FC, this warm up kit is far more than just a jersey. It is a declaration of allegiance to the city we represent. Just as we pursue success on the field to bring glory to Kampala, we are committed to championing the values that make our city cleaner and better. The ”For A Cleaner City” campaign is the foundational purpose of our existence, reminding every player and every fan that it is important to keep the city clean through proper hygiene, waste management, and public health awareness. We are the football team of the capital city authority, and we take that responsibility seriously.

The campaign positions KCCA FC as a benchmark for corporate citizenship and also a key partner in transforming Kampala into the attractive, cleaner, and sustainable city projected by its leadership, especially ahead of the highly anticipated return of the Kampala City Festival on Sunday, 12th October, 2025.

The Kampala City Festival is East Africa’s biggest street festival and also a powerful expression of the city’s identity, culture, and future goals.
