KCCA FC co-head coach Brian Sseyondo was a picture of pride as he reflected on his team’s hard-fought victory against rivals BUL FC in Njeru.
Despite what he described as a moment of panic in the first half, Ssenyondo credited the win to the team’s solid belief and collective spirit.
Ssenyondo felt his side was the superior team overall, but admitted to the side being panicky around the time they conceded the opening goal.
We were the better team on the day. We were a little bit panicky before we conceded the goal in the first half, and even after we conceded, before we got the equalizer.
The precarious moment came at halftime. Down a goal and needing to regroup, Ssenyondo and the technical team focused on restoring confidence and belief in the dressing room.
We told the boys at halftime that we need to believe that we can get a leveler and go ahead to win this game.

The Super Sub: Alex Yiga
The coach reserved special praise for match-winner Alex Yiga, whose introduction proved to be the game-changing substitution.
About Alex Yiga, he is a fantastic player who can even get better.
The coach’s confidence in the young player was clear, as he shared the powerful message he delivered before sending Yiga onto the field.
I told him you are going to win us the game, and he got in and did exactly that.
Unity and Role Acceptance
Ssenyondo pointed to the notable unity within the squad as a key component in their success. Addressing the challenge of managing a competitive roster, the coach noted the maturity and understanding of his players regarding their roles.
There is no player who wants to be on the bench. Every player wants to play. But when you look at this team, every player understands his role and why one has to start and the other has to start from the bench. This shows we are one as a team and it showed today.
