KCCA FC 2-1 URA FC
MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Friday, November,21st, 2025 – 8pm EAT
KCCA FC secured a crucial 2-1 victory over rivals URA FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, a result that sees the Cityzens reclaim joint top spot on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
The win was largely down to the clinical finishing of striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who netted a first-half brace, proving the difference against his former club.
The breakthrough arrived in the 17th minute when Ssebaduka skillfully beat his marker before delivering a precise cross that was deflected before Ahimbisibwe rifled the ball into the net to give KCCA the early advantage. KCCA continued to press, and Saidi Mayanja almost set up a second seven minutes later, but Ssebaduka’s first-time shot flew wide.

The game’s tempo remained high, resulting in a caution for KCCA’s Mayanja after a foul on URA’s Ronald Otti in the 34th minute.
However, Mayanja redeemed himself with just four minutes remaining in the half. After his powerful shot rattled the woodwork, Ahimbisibwe reacted quickest to the rebound, finishing sweetly to complete his double and send KCCA into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
After recess, the Taxmen managed to halve the deficit through substitute Joseph Ssemujju, setting up a tense finish.
Despite URA’s second half resurgence, KCCA had opportunities to restore its two-goal cushion. Ahimsbibwe missed a chance to complete his hat trick, firing high over the bar after being played through by Joel Sserunjogi.

The match saw late tactical substitutions, including the introduction of forward Emmanuel Anyama for Saidi Mayanja, and later, Gavin Kizito for the goal scorer Ahimbisibwe, followed by Sharifu Ssengendo replacing Lazaro Muhindo.
Substitute Anyama had two clear cut opportunities to seal the lead, but one effort was intercepted, and the other sailed wide with the keeper exposed.
Late cautions were issued to James Mubezi and Charles Lukwago for delaying restart, but KCCA held firm to secure the 2-1 win at full-time, confirming their return to the top of the league standings.
The Cityzens will now prepare for their next fixture in the league against Mbarara City, scheduled for Friday, November 28th, in Kamwenge.
