KCCA FC secured a crucial 2-1 away victory over Mbarara City FC at Rwamwanja Stadium, thanks to an early header from Herbert Achayi and a decisive second-half goal from Ahimbisibwe. The victory sees KCCA return to the league summit.

The visitors started brightly and claimed the lead in the 16th minute. Midfielder Joel Sserunjogi delivered a perfectly weighted corner kick, which Herbert Achayi met firmly to head past the Mbarara City goalkeeper, giving KCCA the early advantage.

The lead, however, was short-lived. Just ten minutes later, Mbarara City found their equaliser when Muhammed Kanyike struck to level the scores.

KCCA attempted to regain the lead before the break. In the 38th minute, Herbert Achayi curled his free-kick towards the goal, but Fillbert Obenchan headed the effort wide.

The teams went into the interval locked at 1-1.

KCCA wasted little time after the restart. Just five minutes into the second half, Herbert Achayi turned provider, delivering a well-weighted cross into the box. Ahimbisibwe rose highest to nod the ball into the back of the net, restoring KCCA’s lead at 2-1.

Seeking to consolidate the lead, the KCCA technical bench made changes in the 57th minute, introducing Derrick Nsibambi and Brain Jjara in place of Lazaro Muhindo and Saidi Mayanja, respectively.

KCCA’s skipper Charles Lukwago was cautioned for dissent, while Mbarara’s Gaddafi Kacancu received a booking for fouling.

Later, in the 77th minute, Umar Lutalo replaced Sammy Ssebaduka. The final substitution saw Alex Yiga replace Ashraf Mugume in additional time.
