Full Time: KCCA FC 5-0 Onduparaka FC

Venue: MTN Omondi Stadium

Competition: Stanbic Uganda Cup (Round of 16)

KCCA FC delivered a masterclass in clinical finishing at Lugogo, dismantling Onduparaka FC 5-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

A standout performance from the substitutes and a dominant display from Saidi Mayanja ensured the “Cityzens” remain firm favourites in the competition.

The hosts took control early, with Saidi Mayanja acting as the primary architect.

A chance in the 18th minute created by Alex Yiga was gathered by Onduparaka’s Muhammad Nadhir, but the deadlock didn’t hold for long.

In the 22nd minute, the breakthrough arrived when Mayanja found Sammy Ssebaduka, who calmly tapped home to give KCCA the lead.

Two minutes later, KCCA nearly doubled their lead with a Mayanja corner, but the Onduparaka goalkeeper brilliantly parried Muhamud’s stinging half-volley.

At the half-hour mark, the pressure told again when Fillbert Obenchan’s cross was headed down by Ivan Ahimbisibwe into the path of Saidi Mayanja, who headed home to make it 2-0 before the interval.

Despite a quiet start to the second period and a yellow card for Lazaro Muhindo in the 64th minute, the game was blown wide open by a quadruple substitution in the 66th minute.

The introduction of Umar Lutalo, Rogers Mugisha, Emmanuel Anyama, and Axel Mezui for Saidi Mayanja, Sammy Ssebaduka, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, and Joel Sserunjogi completely overwhelmed the visitors.

Just three minutes after coming on, Emmanuel Anyama scored with his very first touch, tapping home a cross from Lazaro Muhindo following a neat buildup by debutant Axel Mezui.

In the 76th minute, Anyama turned provider, teeing up Alex Yiga for his first-ever Uganda Cup goal for KCCA.

Forward Muserero later on replaced skipper Herbert Achai with 10 minutes left on the clock

The icing on the cake came in stoppage time. Mezui, who impressed on his debut, delivered a precise free kick that Anyama headed home to secure his brace and KCCA’s fifth of the night.
