KCCA FC Soccer Academy continued their dominant start to the FUFA Juniors League season, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory away against Calvary FC JT.

The win marks three victories in as many matches, keeping the young Cityzens at a 100% record for the campaign.

The opening 45 minutes saw KCCA control much of the proceedings, though they struggled to find the clinical edge.

In the 30th minute, Felix Munguestoni found himself through on goal after a brilliant run, but his powerful effort sailed over the woodwork.

Just six minutes later, right-back Abdul Katumba provided a pinpoint pass to winger Joseph Kakooza, who had a clear sight of goal, only to see his shot fly inches over the crossbar.

Despite the pressure, the teams headed into the break deadlocked at 0-0.

The momentum shifted slightly in the 63rd minute when KCCA was forced into an early change, with midfielder Amos Wabwire replacing the injured forward Ismail Fahad.

The decisive moment finally arrived in the 69th minute.

Felix Munguestoni made amends for his earlier miss with a spectacular solo run down the left wing, beating his markers before whipping a cross into the box. Latif Ssemaluulu was perfectly positioned to tap the ball home, giving the visitors a deserved lead.

In a bid to see out the game, KCCA introduced Raphael Masudi and Gift Mutalya for the goal-scorer Ssemaluulu and the playmaker Munguestoni.

The hosts didn’t go down without a fight. In the 84th minute, Calvary’s Aita Edgar looked certain to equalize, but KCCA goalkeeper Al Hajji Hamid Ayiko pulled off a fantastic save to preserve the clean sheet.

Late in the game, substitute Gift Mutalya had a chance to double the lead, but his glancing header failed to find Masudi, allowing the Calvary keeper to collect.

It wasn’t the most comfortable afternoon for the KCCA FC Soccer Academy lads in Arua, but their ability to grind out a result away from home under tough conditions in West Nile proves why they are the team to beat this season.
