Striker Tito Okello came off the bench to score for Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) with a fine header.
Tito’s striker was off a perfectly weighed curled cross by Isaac Muleme down the left with twelve minutes to play to ensure KCCA FC take the bragging rights in the Kampala derby.
From the onset, the champions showed they wanted it more than the visitors and immediately showed impact with rapid attacks from Allan Okello, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Paul Mucureezi and Poloto Julius.

The Foursome combined well in the middle but thanks to Express’ custodian Godwin Buule who proved to be the barrier and the difference in the tie for most spells of the game.
Kaddu Patrick fresh from scoring a brace against Kirinya tested Buule with a long range shot that whistled off the upright 20 minutes into the tie.
Charles Lukwago was then called into action to deny Andrew Sekayombya and Daniel Serunkuuma in quick succession on the 35th and 38th minute.
Stalemate is how it ended in the opening stanza, after the recess Julius Poloto and Paul Mucureezi were withdrawn for Allan Oryek and Tito Okello to add fire power in KCCA FC’s attacks.

Muzamiru Mutyaba then danced his way past a forest of Express defenders’ legs to set up Patrick Kaddu who shot wide on 60 minutes.
Allan Okello was taken off for Saddam Ibrahim Juma and it was the cameo who started the move that gave KCCA FC the goal.
Saddam won the ball in midfield, beat Deogratius Othieno and then laid a perfect pass for Isaac Muleme whose perfect cross found Tito Okello and the lanky striker made no mistake but head home on 78 minutes.

Juma Sebadukka and Steven Bengo came on for Abubakar Kasule and Andrew Sekayombya respectively but the homeside proved to much for the visitors.
1-0 is how it ended, Tito Okello’s goal proving to be the difference and ensuring KCCA FC grab the bragging rights in the Kampala derby and also finish the 1st round of Uganda Premier League games on 29 points, three behind log leaders SC Villa.
