Making History at the U17 World Cup in Qatar
Uganda and KCCA FC are celebrating the historic achievements of the Uganda Cubs at the U17 World Cup in Qatar. In their first-ever appearance at this global tournament, the team has defied expectations to reach the Round of 16.
Our co-head coach, Brian Ssenyondo, continues to prove his pedigree as the Uganda Cubs head coach, leading the side with tactical expertise.
The Cubs secured their place in the round of 16 with a victory over Senegal, marking only Uganda’s second ever win in a World Cup match at any level.
Brain Jjara and KCCA FC Soccer Academy skipper Steven Oyirwoth played the full 90 minutes, while forward Enock Bagenda also made a crucial contribution, coming on as a substitute for the injured captain, Hamzah Ssengooba.
The history-making run is set to continue on Tuesday, November 18th, at 3:30 PM EAT as the Cubs take on Burkina Faso in the Round of 16. KCCA FC stands behind Coach Ssenyondo and our three talented players as they aim to make yet more history.

Two on Uganda Cranes Duty in Morocco
Two of our senior players are currently with the Uganda Cranes squad in Morocco for high-profile international friendlies during this FIFA window.
Herbert Achayi featured in the Cranes’ recent 2-1 victory over Chad on November 14th, playing the entire 90 minutes and delivering a solid performance at the back.
Winger Shafik Kwikiriza was also named in the squad, starting the game against Chad on the bench.
Their attention now turns to a crucial test against hosts Morocco on Tuesday, November 18th, at 10 pm EAT. This friendly match provides an excellent opportunity for Achayi and Kwikiriza to impress the national team technical staff against top African opposition, especially ahead of AFCON 2025 in December.
KCCA FC wishes all 11 of our players and coaches the very best of luck in their upcoming national team engagements on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. We are incredibly proud of the dedication you demonstrate while representing both our club and the nation.
