In the bustling football landscape of Uganda, where players come and go with the changing seasons, a rare breed of footballer emerged. One who became inseparable from the very fabric of his club. For KCCA FC, that man was Julius Poloto.
Julius’ story is a testament to loyalty and a deep connection that began long before he became a household name at Lugogo.
Poloto’s journey with KCCA FC began in 2015, in the KCCA FC Soccer Academy. As a young, promising player, Julius was nurtured by the very institution he would one day call home. He learned the club’s philosophy, absorbed its culture, and dreamed of one day donning the iconic yellow jersey of the senior team. It was at the MTN Omondi Stadium that the seeds of a legend were sown.

Julius was promoted to the senior team under coach Mike Hillary Mutebi. He was always the tireless creative runner and the ever present leader on and off the pitch. His elegant style of play made him a fan favorite, and he quickly became an integral part of the club’s golden era.
Poloto was later handed the full captain’s armband in August 2023, a true demonstration of the respect he commanded from his teammates and the trust the club placed in him.
Julius’ talent got him noticed on the national stage as he proudly represented Uganda at the U17, U20, and U23 levels.
The culmination of all this was a call-up to the senior national team, the Uganda Cranes, where he featured in several matches.

Under Coach Mike Mutebi, Poloto’s career flourished. He was part of the KCCA FC squad that won multiple Uganda Premier League titles in 2017 and 2019, as well as the Uganda Cups in 2017 and 2018.
Julius was a constant presence in big games, as his influence was felt in every moment, and he always gave 100% for the badge, making him a fan favorite because he represented something more profound, the spirit of a club that believed in its own.
The most vivid memory of the former club skipper came in 2018 when he scored a lone goal for KCCA FC in the Uganda Cup final against Vipers to seal the record 10th Uganda Cup.

Years turned into a decade, and Julius Poloto became more than a player, a living legend, and an icon of loyalty and commitment in an era of fleeting football transfers. He was the bridge between the academy and the senior team, a role model for every young player dreaming of following in his footsteps.
Now, as he mutually parts ways with KCCA FC, the emotions are bittersweet. It marks the end of an era, but not the end of a legacy. The memories will forever be etched in the minds of the KCCA FC faithful.
Julius Poloto will always be the heart of the club, our true son, and a permanent fixture in the great history of KCCA FC.
Thank you, Julius Poloto, for a decade of memories, and all the best in the future.
