KCCA FC were forced to share the spoils in a frustrating 0-0 draw against Lugazi FC, despite creating a host of clear cut opportunities across both halves.
KCCA FC started the game with intent, dominating possession and launching frequent attacks. The first warning shot came early in the 11th minute when Ivan Ahimbisibwe beat his marker and perfectly set up Sammy Ssebaduka, whose effort unfortunately flew over the crossbar.
Ssebaduka remained at the heart of the action. In the 19th minute, a brilliant dribble and cross from Shafik Kwikiriza found the midfielder, but Ssebaduka’s strike was saved on the goal line by custodian Mutebi.

Just past the half-hour mark, Mutebi was again called into action, making another superb goal-line save to deny Umaru Lutalo after Kwikiriza had laid a precise pass in the box.
KCCA’s frustration peaked in the 38th minute when Ssebaduka’s powerful 20-yard shot, was saved by Mutebi ensuring the score remained locked at 0-0 heading into the break.
After recess, Ivan Ahimbisibwe missed a golden opportunity, heading wide from a perfectly weighted cross delivered by Sammy Ssebaduka in the 57th minute.
In the 61st minute, Alex Yiga and Sharifu Ssengendo replaced Enock Walusimbi and Ashraf Mugume, respectively, seeking to inject pace into the match.

Yiga made an immediate impact, turning on the energy in the 63rd minute by dribbling past two Lugazi defenders to create space, but both Kwikiriza and Ahimbisibwe failed to connect with the final ball, letting another chance slip away.
The latter stages of the match saw increased tension and cautions. Lugazi’s Juma Mutebi (for time wasting) and Sharif Ssaka (for a foul on Sserunjogi) received bookings, shortly followed by Derrick Mwanje (Lugazi) and Saidi Mayanja (KCCA).
Despite continued pressure, KCCA’s final attempts were thwarted.
In the 75th minute, Joel Sserunjogi whipped in a cross in the box that Obenchan headed on goal, but it was not enough to find the net.

Lazaro Muhindo and Rogers Mugisha were introduced in the 80th minute, replacing Shafik Kwikiriza and Saidi Mayanja, and even the introduction of Alpha Ssali for Ivan Ahimbisibwe in additional time failed to secure the winner.
The match ended goalless, with Lugazi FC holding off KCCA’s relentless attack.
KCCA FC will quickly turn their attention to their next hurdle, an away fixture against Express FC on Thursday, October 23rd at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, at 8pm.
