KCCA FC defensive midfielder Joel Sserunjogi has set an aspiring target to increase his output in the final third and secure silverware for the club.
The midfielder is determined to advance his role on the pitch, having cemented his place in the KCCA FC lineup since his arrival two years ago.
Having registered just one goal in his KCCA FC career so far, Sserunjogi is aware of the need to add goals and assists to his game, a pledge that will see him pushing higher up the pitch this term.

I am challenging myself to be more involved in the final third this season. The role of a modern defensive midfielder is changing, and if I am to achieve my personal goals, I need to see myself scoring and assisting more often. I want to become a crucial link between our defense and attack.
Sserunjogi’s confidence is sky-high following a fine performance at the recent CHAN 2024 tournament with the Uganda Cranes, where his performances and thunderous strike against Niger were crucial for the Cranes.
Joel understands that club form is the core of his national team career.
The experience with the Uganda Cranes at CHAN was incredible and a huge motivator, but what keeps me in that national team setup is performing consistently well for KCCA FC. Every time I step onto the pitch for the club, I am representing my country, my club, my family, and myself.

While his personal objectives are crucial, Sserunjogi makes it clear that his primary focus remains on the team’s success. For him, the 2025/2026 season is all about bringing trophies back to Lugogo.
Above all my personal objectives, including goals, assists, and final third penetration, is my desire to win silverware with KCCA FC. This is a club of champions, and we owe it to our fans and the badge to deliver trophies. That is the main target, and everything I do on the field is aimed at achieving that goal.
KCCA FC returns to action in the league on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, against old rivals Express FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, at 8 pm.
