Express FC vs KCCA FC

Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Thursday, October, 23rd, 2025 – 8pm EAT

The much anticipated derby between Express and KCCA is set to light up the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo this Thursday, in match day four of the Uganda Premier League.

This fixture marks a return to the league’s old format, promising a high stakes battle for bragging rights and early season momentum.

KCCA FC comes into the match seeking a return to winning ways after a start to the season that has seen the Lugogo-based side pick up one win and two draws. The club shared spoils in their previous league fixture against Lugazi at home.

The Cityzens will be without co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo, who is away with the Uganda U-17 team preparing for the World Cup in Qatar. Co-Head Coach Jackson Magera will take charge of the team henceforth.

We are prepared for the derby against Express. They are a good side that is playing well. They have had a fair start, but matches like these are usually not about current form but bragging rights and who wants it more. We will give the game everything we have got.

Express FC has had an inconsistent start to the 2025/2026 season. So far in the league, the Red Eagles have played three matches and accumulated four points. Their performance includes one win, one draw, and one loss.

Their most recent league match was a 1-1 draw against URA FC. Express FC’s goal-scoring form has been led by former KCCA FC player Muhammed Kagawa Ssenoga, who has two goals this season.

The derby returns to its traditional home at Nakivubo, a factor that is expected to captivate the atmosphere. Both teams are closely matched in the early standings and will be desperate for a victory to push them up the table.
