Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) will play in group A of the 2017 Total CAF Confederation Cup that start next moth.

This is after the draw that was held on Wednesday at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt where KCCA FC was drawn alongside FUS Rabat (Morocco), Club Africain (Tunisia) and Rivers United (Nigeria).

KCCA FC skipper Dennis Oola Okot described the pool as a tough one but as a team they are ready for any opponent.

“We didn’t reach the group stage accidentally but we worked for it and we are ready for any opponent. It is a tough group but we haven’t played any game so we cannot assess our chances now,” Okot told www.kccafc.co.ug.

Despite playing against a North African side in Egyptian oufit Al Masry at the playoff stage, the defender believes the two teams from the Maghreb (FUS Rabat and Club Africain) are better than the former in terms of quality.

“I think they are better than Al Masry but our task now is to study their abilities and know where to hurt them,” Okot stated.

Okot however indicated the group stage calls for more hard work and commitment and called upon teammates to be more focused.

“This is a different stage that calls for more efforts from what we have played previously. It therefore means we need to put our house in order, become more committed and make sure we progress to the quarterfinal stage.”

KCCA FC became the first Ugandan team to reach the group stages of any continental tournament since change in format after eliminating Al Masry 4-3 on penalties at the team playoff phase of the Total CAF Confederation Cup.
