A stalemate was all Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) needed against Express in Wankulukuku to qualify for a record 16th Uganda Cup final.

KCCA FC came into the second leg semifinal of the Uganda cup with a 3-2 advantage against Express from the first leg played on last Friday at Lugogo.

Despite the wet afternoon, KCCA FC looked the more comfortable side from the onset with 3 clear cut chances from Geoffrey Serunkuuma, Tom Masiko and Vincent Kayizzi  respectively in the opening 10 minutes.

Express FC then came close through Simon Serunkuuma who almost scored off a defensive mix up but Paul Musamali was quick to clear the mess.

Ivan Ntege kept the entire Express midfield at bay with his tireless runs and on point tackles.
Both teams fought hard to find the cutting edge but chances went begging.

After recess, fleet feet winger Brian Majwega was introduced for Muzamir Mutyaba to increase positivity in KCCA FC’s attack.
Majwega showed his capabilities immediately with mazy runs down the left flank that troubled entire Express back line.

Also Isaac Kirabira was introduced to the game for Paul Mucureezi and Robert Sentongo for Goeffrey Serunkuuma.
Nsibambi almost won it for KCCA FC with double efforts in a space of a minute that were brilliantly saved by Express’ custodian Emmanuel Opio.

No wonder Express will have Opio to thank for pulling off a string of saves, twice denying Nsibambi and Tom Masiko
. In the closing stages of the game both teams struggled to keep the ball at their feet due to the slippery ground.

And 0-0 is how it ended, KCCA FC wining the penultimate game to qualify for the final of Uganda Cup with a 3-2 advantage.
KCCA FC will play FUFA Big League side Paidha Black Angels in the final to be played on June 10th 2017 at the Betway Greenlight Stadium in Arua.

KCCA last played in the Uganda Cup final in 2014, then falling to eventual winners SC Villa 3-0 at Namboole Stadium.
The reigning league champions last won the Uganda Cup 13 years after they defeated Express 3-2 on spotlicks after normal time ended 1-1
