Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club’s (KCCA FC) will get closer to a 12th Azam Uganda Premier League title if the side can pick maximum points off Kirinya Jinja SS on Saturday.
The match that will be played at the Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo tips manager Mike Mutebi’s side against a Kirinya side that is desperate to survive relegation.
“Our focus from the time the season started was to defend the league title; it’s a long journey before we can achieve that, the reason we have to stay focused in every game we play”
Manager Mike Mutebi told www.kccafc.co.ug on Friday before sharing his concerns about the Saturday opponents
“They will be tough visitors, there is no question about that, they are trying to survive relegation, and one of the most disciplined sides defensively.”
Kirinya have conceded the least goals (15) in the Azam Uganda Premier League, although they have also not been that impressive in front of goal having scored just 13 the least this season.
But that poor run shouldn’t make KCCA take things for granted if they are to walk away with the three points, that’s according to skipper Denis Okot;
“There is no room for error, we can’t afford to make school boy mistakes that have cost us on a number of occasions in the past. We must stay focused from the first whistle to the last but also bury the chances we create.”
The first round meeting between the two sides ended 1-1 at Bugembe, but a win for KCCA FC on Saturday and Villa’s failure to win maximum points against Soana in Kavumba will seal the 12th league title.
