- Match: KCCA FC vs Express FC
- Venue: MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
- Kick-off: 8:00 PM EAT
- Competition: StarTimes Uganda Premier League
The stage is set at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo as two of Uganda’s traditional football giants, KCCA FC and Express FC, prepare to renew their historic rivalry this Wednesday.
With the “Red Eagles” flying into Lugogo on the back of a gritty goalless draw against SC Villa, an electric atmosphere is expected in the derby.
The narrative of this tie is heavily flavoured by the return of two midfield maestros to their former grounds. Lawrence Bukenya and Gift Ali now play key roles for the new look Express FC, having once orchestrated the play in yellow.
The last meeting between these two ended in a 1-0 win for KCCA FC, courtesy of a Sammy Ssebaduka strike in October 2025.
Express FC comes into the match fresh from their recent goalless draw against SC Villa.
The Red Eagles have not won or lost a league game in their last five matches. They have picked up five draws and conceded only once in five league games.
KCCA FC have won their last four matches. They have three league wins and one in the cup, scoring seven goals and conceding two.
KCCA FC is currently 3rd in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with 39 points, while Express FC is 10th on the table with 20 points from 19 matches.
Jackson Kaddu Magera addressing the pre-match press conference
KCCA FC co-head coach Jackson Magera Kaddu has demanded the players approach the game with the temperament of a derby.
Express vs. KCCA is never an easy game. We have told the boys they must encounter the game like the derby it is. We need the fire of a derby and the composure during such a game. We must bury our chances because in games like these, you might not get many, and they are normally decided by small margins.
