UPDF has never won a game against KCCA FC
Competition: StarTimes Uganda Premier League
Date: Tuesday, January 27, 2026
Time: 4:00 PM
Venue: MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
For the first time in recent memory, the “Cityzens” will walk onto the turf of the MTN Omondi Stadium for a home league fixture at 4:00 PM this season.
Lugogo has long been synonymous with night football, hosting matches under the floodlights at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM. This shift back to a mid-afternoon kickoff brings a different energy to a ground where KCCA FC has been dominant this term.
However, KCCA FC enters this tie in a rare state, having failed to secure a victory in their last two league outings. A frustrating 2-0 loss to Police FC, followed by a gritty 0-0 draw away to Maroons FC. The 13-time champions have seen their grip on the top spot slip.
Currently sitting 3rd on the log, the responsibility for the technical bench is to reignite the clinical edge that defined their early season form.
This will be the first fixture for KCCA FC at home in 2026.
On the other side, UPDF FC arrives at Lugogo fighting a different battle. Positioned 13th in the standings, the Army side has historically struggled against KCCA, failing to win in their last 12 meetings.

KCCA co-coach Brian Ssenyondo has been vocal about the team’s need for a reset. Following the recent dip, he emphasized that the club’s identity must be restored through results, not just possession and playing well.
The performance in our last match was fair. We created chances but did not score to win the game. The emphasis all week has been turning created chances into goals. However, we are back home, and we have that advantage. We will fight for the badge in front of our fans at home. We do not have any injuries apart from Gabriel and Katenga, who are training well with the group but are at 40% in terms of readiness to play.
