KCCA FC has officially announced the re-signing of experienced defender Herbert Achayi, who returns to the club on a two-year deal. Achayi makes his way back to Lugogo after his contract with Express FC expired, marking a reunion for both the player and the club.
Achayi started his career at the KCCA FC Soccer Academy before he was promoted to the senior side in 2017. He featured for the senior KCCA FC team for 7 years before he left the club at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Achayi had previously departed KCCA FC as a free agent upon the expiration of his contract a season ago. However, a year later, the versatile defender is back to bolster the Kasasiro Boys’ defensive line. His return is expected to add depth and experience to a squad aiming for top honors in the upcoming season.
During his recent stint with Express FC in the 2024/25 season, Achayi featured in 22 matches and played 1980 minutes in the league last term, averaging 90 minutes per game.
Speaking to the club’s official website after putting pen to paper, a delighted Achayi expressed his excitement about rejoining his former teammates.

Achayi’s versatility, capable of playing across the backline, will be valuable for the technical team. His previous stint at KCCA FC saw him grow from an academy graduate into a fan favorite on the senior team.
Herbert becomes the third addition to the club in this primary transfer window, following the arrival of Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Lazaro Muhindo.
Achayi is currently in camp with the Uganda Cranes ahead of the CHAN 2024 tournament that will take place in August 2025.
