KCCA FC faces a daunting task this weekend as they travel to FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, for the return leg of the FUFA Super 8 quarter-finals against bitter rivals SC Villa.

With a one goal deficit to overcome after a 2-1 defeat at MTN Omondi Stadium in the first leg, the Cityzens must secure a victory by a margin of two goals to book a spot in the semi-finals.

The weight of expectation is on the shoulders of co-coaches Brian Ssenyondo, Jackson Magera, and their men.

The loss in the first leg, despite KCCA’s home advantage, has placed them in a precarious position. A win of 1-0 would also see them lose on the away goals rule, meaning a two-goal buffer is the only sure way to advance. Should KCCA FC fail to overturn the aggregate score, their Super 8 journey will not end; the club will play a placement match against Maroons FC.

Success, however, promises a high-stakes semi-final clash against BUL FC on Sunday at 7pm at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The Jogoos hold the advantage and are playing in front of their home crowd. Their strategy will likely be to contain KCCA’s attacking threats and leverage the foundation they built in the first leg.

Speaking ahead of the return leg match, KCCA’s first leg goal scorer, Sammy Ssebaduka, expressed the team’s resolve.

My goal in the first leg was important, but it’s not enough. We know we have a bigger job to do on their home ground. The entire team is focused. We have worked hard on our finishing and defensive shape. We believe in ourselves and are ready to leave everything on the field to get the win we need.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo

Coach Brian Ssenyondo echoed his player’s determination.

The boys know the task at hand. We are going to Kadiba with a clear plan to be clinical from the first whistle. We respect SC Villa, but this is a different game. I am confident that we have the quality and character to deliver a result that will see us through to the next round.
