SAMMY SSEBADUKA | Winger Turned Full Back Finds New Life at KCCA FC.
cityzens-stories—13 October 2025
For me it is about adapting to the coaches demands and putting the team first, and I am enjoying my new role on the team.
The 2025/26 season has seen Sammy Raynald Ssebaduka take the early spotlight due to his consistent performance for the club in the pre-season and in the league.
The Canadian born Ugandan footballer joined the Cityzens in the 2024/25 season on a four-year deal but spent much of his debut campaign on the sidelines. However, now in his second year, Ssebaduka looks to have broken into the first team with his top class form in recent matches.
Ssebaduka was originally signed as an attacking winger, but the KCCA FC technical team, under co-head coaches Jackson Magera and Brian Ssenyondo, recognized his versatility and potential in the back four. He has fully embraced the new role, successfully being fielded as a right back in the opening games of the 2025/26 campaign.

Ssebaduka has started both of the club’s first two league matches against Kitara FC and rivals SC Villa as a right winger, was later drafted into the right back position, and delivered a top performance in both matches.
His versatility had him featured as a left-back in a FUFA Super 8 clash against Kitara FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Speaking about the player’s transition and sudden rise, KCCA FC Co-Head Coach Jackson Magera praised Ssebaduka’s dedication.
Sammy’s development is because of his professionalism and refusal to give up. He came to us as a winger, but he has embraced the challenge of converting to a full-back. His work rate and technical ability have made him a key player for us. He puts the badge first and has great character and attitude.

In a recent interview with KCCA FC TV, Ssebaduka spoke about his journey, acknowledging the tough first year.
I hardly had game time in my first year, but I kept working. I am hopeful that my hard work is the reason I am on the team now. For me it is about adapting to the coaches demands and putting the team first, and I am enjoying my new role on the team.
The young fullback holds dual citizenship for Uganda and Canada, where his family is based. Despite his Canadian ties, Ssebaduka chose to pursue his football career in Uganda, with a dream of one day playing for the Uganda national team, the Cranes.
Ssebaduka’s earlier football career had him playing for the York University Men’s Soccer Team, Vaughn League One men’s football club, North York Academy in Canada, and Police FC before making the move to sign for KCCA FC.
KCCA FC will return to action this Thursday, 16th October, with a home fixture against Lugazi FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, at 8pm.
